Those hotties armed themselves with acoustic guitars this week.

Today was nothing like a strum on the guitar. As a matter of fact, it was quite the contrary, what with all the trekking and sighting. We would not be the earthlings you know if we actually arrived at the entrance of Singapore Zoological Gardens right smack on time.

The Zoo would have been submerged in peaceable surroundings if not for St. Anthony's Primary School kiddos. They were like all over the place, I was beginning to ponder if they were deployed to invade the Zoo.

Despite being born in the year of monkey, I was least interested in the primates. Call me disrespectful towards our ancestral beings, but I have always preferred the cat family.

We went for the animal show and it was great, not entirely because of the performance they intended to showcase, but the Caucasian guy they picked out amongst the audience to join in the fun. He was extremely sporting, taking off his shirt upon a request, arousing the crowd (little kids, apparently) and flexing his muscles. He pretty much reminded me of Hugh Jackman twenty years ago. In case it isn't obvious enough, I was actually complimenting that guy. So don't get me wrong, it is definitely not an insulting remark towards Hugh Jackman.

After the display of animals, we have the privilege to go up on stage and get ourselves a picture with the crew and a boa constrictor. I thought I might as well step out of my familiarity zone and do something out of the ordinary.

Adz and Ben were not gutsy enough to join us, so Mas, Cryst and I went ahead without them. Funny how I am surprised Ben found a distressing emotion towards snakes, but well, everyone has their own fears.

I asked for the snake to be placed on my shoulder and I would not say a sudden urge of boldness rushed up my head and robbed my sanity. I refused to touch its tail and I will not be able to get over it if I were to leave the stage without any physical contact with that reptile. Besides, since I have already decided I am keen on touching the snake, I could just go a little further by having the snake on my shoulder.

Actually, that was not the hardest part. What made me churn on the inside was when I tried to glide my fingers across the skin. I thought I pulled away instinctively with the slightest jerk, unnoticeably with naked eye, when I felt the rubbery texture beneath my fingers.

After the picture was captured, I glanced at Adz and Ben who were still seated on the bench, and pointed my finger at them, as if announcing victory. I was mouthing, "Beat that!", but it was probably only loud enough for Mas and Cryst to hear it.

We lingered around for quite a bit before heading to Kidz World for our late lunch. Our young hearts burst out of chest when we were goofing around the playing area after a hearty meal. We were clinging ourselves here, and balancing ourselves there.

All worn out as the sun sets in, it was almost time for us to head back down South. We sang National Day songs to keep us going and I must say, it did make the journey back on foot faster than I expected.

What an adventurous day!
